Sandra, I would agree with you. I was "Chairman" of the DC not a "Chair", I think that I was sometimes called "Madam Chairman" but I was quite happy with being the Chairman. That was an honour in itself. Like you I'm something of a feminist as a former member of the 300 Group but I certainly don't believe intaking things to extremes.

OK - looking at how to vote on the Wright reforms. Unfortunately I think that voting on whether we use the phrase "Chair" or "Chairman" demeans the whole thing. I'm something of a feminist but I don't really care - any title used by a man is good enough for me - it is doing the job well that is important

questions of population control are the ones that few people dare to address when talking about sustainability - how do we do it in diplomatic and sensitive fashion?

Interesting question at Women's Environmental Meeting tonight - is it more important for western women to reduce family size as they consume more of the world's resources?

Very disappointed that there was insufficient time to debate home education and sex and relationships education in schools - a symptom of the Labour gov but not convinced that a Con gov wowuld reverse the flow

Sandra with Healthworkers at SGH jpg"Protecting local health services is a top priority for me. I am proud of the difference I have been able to make over nine years as an MP in supporting our local health services. I was a pharmacist for over 20 years before I became an MP, and have been a member of the Health Select Committee since 2006. Helping save Romsey Hospital from closure in 2005 and getting a new NHS dentist for our area last year are two highlights for me." - Sandra
